teen daze//shine on, you crazy white cap
this is cool, but i think they're a bit late. and the name of the band is too cliched to be genuine - it made me cringe, but maybe thats just me. but whatever, its a good song and the footage really suits the style. perhaps not as remarkable as the washed outs and memory cassettes, but still definitely worth the 4:09 minutes it takes to watch/listen.

an american prayer//jim morrison
Found this album by pure chance the other day, one i thought i would never have on vinyl. perfect condition, with original booklet, so much more exciting the downloading.
"Do you know the warm progress under the stars?
Do you know we exist?
Have you forgotten the keys to the Kingdom?
Have you been borne yet & are you alive?
Let's reinvent the gods, all the myths
of the ages
Celebrate symbols from deep elder forests
[Have you forgotten the lessons of the ancient war]
We need great golden copulations
The fathers are cackling in trees of the forest
Our mother is dead in the sea
Do you know we are being led to
slaughters by placid admirals
& that fat slow generals are getting
obscene on young blood
Do you know we are ruled by T.V.
The moon is a dry blood beast
Guerilla bands are rolling numbers
in the next block of green vine
amassing for warfare on innocent
herdsmen who are just dying
O great creator of being
grant us one more hour to
perform our art
& perfect our lives
The moths & atheists are doubly divine
& dying
We live, we die
& death not ends it
Journey we more into the
Nightmare
Cling to life
our passion'd flower
Cling to cunts & cocks
of despair
We got our final vision
by clap
Columbus' groin got
filled w/ green death
(I touched her thigh
& death smiled)
We have assembled inside this ancient
& insane theatre
To propagate our lust for life
& flee the swarming wisdom
of the streets
The barns are stormed
The windows kept
& only one of all the rest
To dance & save us
W/ the divine mockery
of words
Music inflames temperament
(When the true King's murderers
are allowed to roam free
a 1000 magicians arise
in the land)
Where are the feasts
we were promised
Where is the wine
The New Wine
(dying on the vine)
Resident mockery
give us an hour for magic
We of the purple glove
We of the starling flight
& velvet hour
We of arabic pleasure's breed
We of sundome & the night..."

zaireeka//listeningparty
'it was and is "surround sound" for the extreme fanatic'- Wayne Coyne
i was reading a flaming lips review in the paper a couple of days ago - talking about their new album of pink floyd 'dark side of the moon' covers - and it got me thinking about all their albums, and then i thought 'zaireeka', and then i thought 'shit! a zaireeka listening party would be perfection'. so now im stuck on this idea, ive never heard them played properly with the 4 CD players and youtube has tons of videos of people having their zaireeka listening parties. so i want to join the craze (yes, im 13 years late). ive heard bits and pieces, and its interesting, but i dont think its right untill you've heard it the way it was intended to be listened to.
concept-y albums scare me, they have the opportunity to go so horribly wrong. bring me some CD players and alcohol so i can conquer my fear.

nothing i can say will do this justice. theres a key-tar! i didn't know anyone had used them since the 80's. mostly this is just an ode to a robert palmer clip, with models doing some bad instrument miming and 2-step dancing. so its pretty much the best thing ive seen in a while, eurotrash has never been so entertaining. if only eurovision had stuff like this...oh wait, it does.
thankyou erica.

memorycassette//asleep at a party
this is obvious, but it all really does sound and look like being asleep at a party. that dissoriented feeling of waking up after having a nap in the afternoon and seeing that its night and not knowing how much time has passed. or when you were young and your parents were having a party but you had to go to bed early. whenever i hear this song i get that feeling. i can never get sick of this song.

thehunger
If any topic has been sucked of its goodness it would be vampires (pun so definitely intended). and even though this may not be the original vampire movie, it is the best. not much in terms of a soundtrack other than a few iggy pop songs and the opening scene which is a live performance of 'bella lugosi's dead' by 'bauhaus', which is worth watching the movie for in its self. its dark, atmospheric and iconic 80's greatness. but the score is what you should really listen for. composed by micheal rubini and denny jaeger, its cold, calculated and absolutely perfect.
of course the awesome stylised-ness and the too hot chemistry that is catherine deneuve and david bowie helps the whole thing along as well.
